Pre-Arrival Information for 2017 Exchange Students

(Spring Semester)

Dear students,

Welcome to Shandong University! We are excited to have you join us for the upcoming academic year! In order to ensure a successful start at Shandong University (SDU), we will provide you with detailed information as follows.

1. On-Campus Accommodation

Application Period: 3 -15 January, 2017


Please log on the website with your student ID on the top of your Admission Notice starting with gj17 together with password (default is the same with your application system’s password). Click Dorm Management in the menu--Dorm Apply, then fill in required information.


Your preferred room type may not be available when demand is high and on-campus housing is subject to our arrangement.

Students wishing to live off-campus should go and register in the local police station in their residential area within 24 hours after your arrival in Jinan.

2. Pick-up Service and SDU Location

Pick-up Service:

We will provide free pick-up service at Jinan Airport, Jinan West Railway Station and Jinan Train Station from February 18 to 19. Volunteers holding a “Shandong University” board will meet you there and guide you to SDU safely.

Please return the complete Pick-up Application Form by February 6, 2017 so that we can arrange the pick-up service timely.

Students arriving on your own:

You can take a taxi to Shandong University. Reference price for taxi fare are as follows:

From Jinan Airport: around 100 yuan

From Jinan West Railway Station: around 60 yuan

From Jinan Railway Station: around 25 yuan

3. Payment

Health Insurance

It is compulsory to buy Chinese health insurance for the stay in Shandong University. The charge is 800 yuan per year and 400 yuan for half year. Please pay it upon registration but not online in case any incorrect information.

Housing Expenses

It varies according to your room type, about 4000--7000 yuan per semester. You may pay it online or transfer to Shandong University Account. Please refer to the payment details below. Also, we recommend you to bring some RMB cash with you for housing deposit (600 yuan / person).

Payment upon Registration

Student volunteers will assist you to go to bank outside the campus gate to open your personal debit card account in the Bank of China after your arrival.

4. Registration

Registration Method

Please log on the website with your student ID and update your personal information before registration. You may finish this step before the registration day.

Please register on time or let us know if you have to arrive late. Otherwise, your place will be canceled!

5. Orientation

To help students with an easy transition, we will arrange Orientation during the second week of the semester. The schedule of the orientation (which will be conducted in English) will be announced upon registration.

6. Other important information 1) Language Proficiency Test (Only required for language student )

The language proficiency placement test will be taken on February 21 and 22 for those admitted to Chinese language major. More detailed information such as test format will be announced upon registration.

2) Course Registration

Course registration will be available online from February 27 to March 3, 2017. Please go to visit the academic advisor of the admitted school for the course list after registration.
